David Gardiner, President
David’s sports management career began in 1992 when he joined Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment, LLC as a college intern. Upon graduation, he joined the Denver Nuggets working to expand their season ticket base. In 1994, he returned to Van Wagner as Events Coordinator, was promoted to Vice President, Marketing/Events in 1995, and again promoted in 1998 to Senior Vice President. In 2002, David formed Blue Ridge Sports & Entertainment, Inc. where he conducts event management, contract negotiation, sponsorship acquisition, promotion, marketing, advertising and relationship development. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing Communications from Shepherd College.
Lou Lacy, Vice President - Events
Lou has been involved in the sports business since 1995. He has been with Blue Ridge Sports since its inception in 2002, serving as it’s Vice President of Events. Lou’s expertise includes event scheduling, event logistics, marketing and advertising. He obtained his Bachelors Degree in History from the University of Virginia and his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Tennessee.
Sherry Glascock, Vice President - Administration
Sherry joined Van Wagner Sports in 1998 bringing over 30 years of secretarial, administrative and office management experience from the fields of law, corporations, sales, government research and development and customer service. She is responsible for office management, accounting, and event logistics regarding travel accommodations and hospitality. She holds a Business Degree from Strayer College, Washington, DC and was promoted to Vice President-Administration for Blue Ridge Sports in 2002.
Elliot Rosenfeld, Director of Operations/Consulting
Elliot joined Blue Ridge Sports in 2013 as an intern during his final semester at James Madison University. Immediately after graduting from JMU with a degree in Sports Management, Elliot began working for BRSE fulltime. He serves as the Director of Operations in charge of making sure all event logistics are running smoothly and appropriately with specific concentration on event ground transportation, in-game promotions, graphic design needs, and production. He has also serves as a consultant for High Major Sports since 2014.
Madison Savarese, Director of Events/Consulting
Madison’s experience in the sports industry began at a very young age. She grew up assisting her father with administrative work as he started his own sports management agency, Full Circle Marketing, then started working on his events as she entered high school. While studying for her Bachelors Degree at The University of Virginia's College at Wise, Madison was active in planning and managing events for the Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Economic Development Department and the David J. Prior Convocation Center. Madison first joined the Blue Ridge Sports team while during an internship for her degree and accepted a job after graduating in 2014 with her Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Sports Management. Madison oversees the planning and execution of our corporate hospitality, travel logistics, and select project management. She also serves as a consultant for High Major Sports.
Matt Pennie, Collegiate Basketball Events/Scheduling
Matt joined the Blue Ridge Sports team in 2011 as a member of their college events division. He serves as a travel representative and event support staff for all contracted preliminary games leading to both the Coaches vs Cancer and College Basketball Experience finals. On site he works as a production assistant, executing in-game promotions and production, team management, and VIP hosting. He has also served as a consultant for Reebok Grassroots Basketball since 2008. Matt received his Bachelors Degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2007, and his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2009. He played collegiate basketball at UMass from 2005-2008, serving as team captain during his final season on a team that finished 25-11 and reached the NIT Finals at Madison Square Garden.
Liz Woerth, Public Relations and Marketing Consultant
Liz Woerth has 13 years of PR and marketing communications experience. She has worked at several large PR agencies, most recently at GolinHarris in Chicago, where she served as an account manager for McDonald's and worked on the company's sports properties such as the Olympic Games and McDonald’s All American Basketball Games. Currently, Liz is a PR and marketing consultant for Blue Ridge Sports and her expertise includes social and traditional media relations, event management, and marketing/communications strategy development and execution. Liz graduated from Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and a major in public relations.
Amber Godfrey, Public Relations and Marketing Consultant
Amber Godfrey is a seasoned public relations and marketing professional with more than 10 years of experience specializing in Sports PR & Marketing. She began her career in sports as a PR intern at ESPN while working on the show Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith. There she would pitch the concept and produce the June 11, 2006 “Grassroots Basketball” segment which would later become an episode on ESPN’s sports investigative series, Outside The Lines. She would move on to become a PR account manager at the renowned Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. There she would be responsible for proactively planning media/marketing strategies and driving media coverage for premier sporting events such as the NBA Pre-Draft Camp, AAU Basketball Nationals, Atlanta Braves Spring Training and the Pop Warner Super Bowl. She has since been a member of the Blue Ridge Sports team since 2011, serving as a PR and marketing consultant. Her responsibilities range from media relations, strategic communications, and event management. Amber graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University receiving her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and her Masters of Science in Sports Leadership.
